Frequently Asked Questions

Can you explain about the performance walk venues?
During the performance walk visitors (in one large group) will follow a map and come across performances in unconventional places.  If familiar with the campus, performers may request specific venues. To see the performance areas or requesting a specific area, please contact Donna Merkt at 405-878-5605 or info@artstrek.org.

How many performances are we to do?
You are only asked to commit to one short performance.  However,  if you would like to perform twice, once during the performance walk and once during the arts festival, please indicate this preference in the "comments" section of your registration.  Please note that the performances presented during the walk need to be 10 minutes or less, but the performances during the arts festival can be longer.  You will be contacted by April 13 with confirmation of your performance location(s) and time(s).

If we don't do a performance until 11:30, do we still have to be ready by 9:45 am?
All performers need to check in at the museum and be ready with all equipment, props, etc. in place by 9:45 am in the event that we move ahead of schedule.  However, you may view the other performances before your own, provided that you return to your area 30 minutes prior to your scheduled performance.  Of course, after your performance, you are free to join the crowd and enjoy the remainder of the Arts Trek!

What sound equipment is provided?
Equipment is not provided for the Performance Trek.  Please bring anything that you need. Electricity will be available, please indicate on your registration form if you need electricity.  There will be basic sound equipment available at both festival stage locations.

Are you offering payment to the performers?
There will be no payments made to performance artists and no monetary prizes offered for visual artists at this time.  Arts Trek runs specifically on volunteer power!  Those who participate do so because they share the vision that this event is an opportunity for collaborating with other artists, sharing our knowledge, talents, and passion for the arts with the community, and strengthening respect and appreciation for the arts in Shawnee and Oklahoma at large.

Are there changing rooms available?
There are no designated changing rooms.  We recommend that performers come to the event dressed or make use of one of the restrooms on campus.

Can I also have a booth during the festival?
Absolutely!  All performers are invited to have an outdoor booth space to promote themselves or organizations.  Since you're an active participant, your outdoor booth space is FREE.  (Please note that these booth spaces do not come with equipment.  You will need to provide what you need, tables, chairs, etc.)  To reserve an outdoor booth space, please indicate your interest on your performance registration. If you would like an indoor booth space, you will have to pay a registration fee (as do the other artists) and must complete the Artist Exhibitor Registration (in addition to the performance registration) to reserve an indoor booth.  Indoor booths are limited and are awarded on a first come, first served basis.

Can I sell performance CDs, DVDs, posters, etc. at my booth space?
Yes!  However, you will then need to fill out the Artist Exhibitor Registration (in addition to the performance registration) and you will need to comply with the Artist Exhibitor Terms and Conditions.  Please note that all sales are processed through the MGMoA Gift Shop and a 25% commission applies (so price accordingly).
