Why can’t I bring in a backpack or large bag?
Due to space constraints, backpacks and bags larger than 9x12 are not allowed in the galleries. Please check these at the front desk or put them with the student belongings. You can borrow a smaller bag from the front desk if you need to carry your phone, wallet, etc.
What is the maximum number of people that can make up a group?
We can comfortably manage up to 75 people with advance notice.
What is the minimum number of people to make up a group for a tour?
We give tours to groups of 10 or more people (students and adults). Groups of 10 or more students are eligible for the Start with Art field trip program (tour + art activity).
What is the cost?
To qualify for a group rate, groups must schedule at least 2 weeks in advance (1 month is recommended for optimum scheduling). The group rate is $2 for students and $4 for adults (with or without a tour). Start with Art (tour + art activity) is $3 for students and $4 for adults. The admission fee for chaperons (1 per 10 kids) and personal care attendants is waived. Discounts and scholarships are available. How early should we book our tour?
Groups must schedule at least 2 weeks in advance to receive the group rate. However, it is advised that you book your tour at least 1 month in advance for optimum scheduling.
What will we do at the museum?
Tours can be arranged for permanent and special exhibitions, visual thinking strategies discussions, and/or time with the education (touch) collection.
Is the museum accessible?
The museum is completely wheel-chair accessible. Accessible restrooms are available that meet standards as of 1991. Two small wheelchairs and a walker are available for reservation. Special tours can be arranged for the visually impaired. Please contact the education department for more information or to inquire about other accommodations.
Does the museum have a gift shop?
The MGMoA has a small gift shop containing toys, collectibles, decorative objects, art materials, jewelry, and fine art created by local artists.
