TWENTY-SIX LOCAL ARTISTS DISPLAY THEIR TALENTS AT THE MABEE-GERRER MUSEUM OF ART
Make plans to be at the Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art on Friday, November 7 at 7:00 p.m. At that time, the museum will open the inaugural MGMoA Regional Art Exhibition featuring twenty-six artists from Shawnee and the surrounding rural communities.
"We only accepted work from those artists living or working within a 35-mile-radius of Shawnee," commented Donna Merkt, Curator of Education. "This is truly an exhibit with local flavor!"
Local artists submitted a total of eighty artworks to the museum for consideration. Images of the artworks were sent to Arkansas to be juried by Aaron Jones, who formerly served as the Arts Education Director for the Oklahoma Arts Council and as an art and art education instructor at Oklahoma Baptist University. Mr. Jones chose about one half of the submitted artworks to be exhibited at the Museum.
