The Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art has a strong history of support from the Volunteers at all levels. Volunteers work in nearly every capacity--providing services to visitors and assistance to the professional staff behind the scenes.
Being a Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art Volunteer enriches the lives of all those involved.
Volunteer Activity Areas
Hospitality:
Participate in the hosting of receptions for museum and volunteer society events, including exhibitions openings, volunteer meetings and socials, the annual gala, and other events. Activities include: preparing and/or providing refreshments, decorating, setting tables, and other like duties.
Fundraising:
Work with the Development Director in the organization of museum fundraising events. Activities include: assisting with events such as the annual museum Gala, Off the Wall, and other fundraisers.
Gerrer Gardeners:
Help with the care and maintenance of the museum courtyard and gardens. Activities include: planting, tending, watering, and other like duties.
Communications:
Facilitate good communications between volunteer society members and between the volunteers and the community. Activities include: assisting with communication/correspondence between volunteers (telephone calls, e-mails, postcards, notes, etc.); working on the volunteer society newsletter, webpage, and other volunteer media; helping with volunteer society publicity (press releases and photographs); assist with the maintenance of the volunteer society scrapbook, and other like duties.
Education/Outreach:
Assist the Curator of Education in the educational & outreach efforts for the volunteers, museum visitors, and the community. Activities include: helping organize trips and programs, working at booths/events, working with visiting groups, monitoring visitors, assisting with the preparation of education program materials and supplies, and other like duties.
Utility:
Help with the daily functions of the Volunteer Society and the museum. Activities include: assisting with office work including mail outs (stuffing and addressing envelopes--not bulk mail) and filing, assisting with gift shop presentation (dusting, inventory, etc.), washing tablecloths, library inventory and organization, and other miscellaneous activities.
Volunteer Support:
Contribute to the support of the volunteer society membership. Activities include: assisting with current volunteer supplies, services, and acknowledgements (name badges, year book, handbook, plaques, and awards); participating in new volunteer recruitment and orientation; arranging volunteer greeters and mentors; and aid in assessing and maintaining volunteer satisfaction (i.e. program evaluations, strategic planning).

MGMoA Volunteer Society
The purpose of the MGMOA Volunteer Society is to provide voluntary service for the Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art, impacting both the museum and the community.

Active Member Dues: $15 annually
Hourly Commitment 3+ per month
Sustaining Member Dues: $20 annually
