Barbara Cleary: Natural Journey

May 03 2014 - June 22 2014
Barbara Cleary (1935-2010) was an Oklahoma artist who was known for her landscapes of all areas of the country, from the Arboretum and Botanical Gardens in South Central Kansas, to the lakes and rivers of Eastern Oklahoma, the desert of New Mexico, and the rocky coast of Maine. Barbara was compelled to capture the essence of nature, which she believed to be the source of all creative thought and energy. She drew creative inspiration from the earth's natural environments, stating "All art has to do with nature. It is a part of everything and the source of everything. Intuitively, I think all artists are compelled to imitate nature in their work."
